Some visions begin quietly.

Not with a grand announcement, but somewhere between earth and sky—when you’re looking out of an airplane window, watching the clouds stretch endlessly below you, and you realize that the life you’re imagining is no longer just a dream. It’s becoming a direction.

That’s where this vision began for me.

Somewhere above the clouds.

What started as curiosity about Costa Rica has slowly unfolded into something much deeper—a calling, really—to imagine a space for connection, creativity, and cultural grounding for people of the African diaspora. A place where art, music, storytelling, community, and reflection meet the rhythm of the sea and the pulse of the forest.

I call that vision Ndaho.

Ndaho is still taking shape, but at its heart it is meant to be a cultural sanctuary—part retreat, part creative incubator, part gathering place for ideas, stories, and expression rooted in the African diaspora.

A place where writers write.

Where musicians create.

Where conversations about culture, identity, and belonging unfold naturally under open skies.

A place where people come not just to rest, but to reconnect—with themselves, with community, and with something older and deeper than all of us.

For me, Costa Rica—especially the Afro-Caribbean coast—feels like fertile ground for that possibility. The energy there is different. The air moves differently. The history of African-descended communities along the Caribbean coast carries its own rhythm, its own resilience, its own beauty.

And in that rhythm, I began to imagine something new.

Maybe it becomes a small creative retreat.

Maybe it becomes a gathering space for artists and thinkers.

Maybe it becomes a place for conversations that turn into podcasts, radio, or storytelling that travels far beyond the Caribbean Sea.

Maybe it becomes something we can’t yet fully imagine.

This space on Marlee.World is where I’ll document that journey.

The research.

The dreaming.

The missteps.

The moments of clarity.

You’ll see the places that inspire the vision, the people who shape it, and the questions that guide it.

Because visions don’t arrive fully formed.

They are built—piece by piece, step by step, conversation by conversation.

And sometimes they begin simply by looking out a plane window, watching the clouds drift below, and allowing yourself to believe that something new is possible.

Ndaho is that possibility.

And this is where the journey begins.
